Bank Day, in partnership with the Washington Mutual School Savings Program, happens every Wednesday in Room 17 (the room right off the cafeteria at the stage end). Students can open new accounts and verify existing accounts. We prepare the bank registers for you on this day.
To open a new account, you need to bring your Social Security number, know where and when you were born and your mother’s maiden name. Parents, this is your child’s account and they will sign the application. At school, we are able to make deposits only. If you want to make a withdrawal you will need to go to a Washington Mutual Bank with your child’s account number/SS#.
Fifth graders can volunteer to help with Bank Day. They must be able to come at 8:10 to help set up. Permission slips need to be signed by parents as well as the morning teacher.
Parents may also participate through the Washington Mutual program called "WaMoola for Schools." If you have a Washington Mutual bank account you can earn money for Richmond. It is as simple as declaring Richmond Elementary School as your designated school; every time you use your Check Card you earn points. To enroll, go to wamoolaforschools.com, call 1-866-WAMOOLA or go into your local Washington Mutual branch. If you have moved and do not confirm Richmond as your designated school, the bank automatically will switch your school to the one in your new neighborhood. Tell you family and friends to declare Richmond! (They don't even have to live in Oregon to participate!)
Please keep your orders coming in! All you have to do is fill out an order form, specify whether you want ground or whole bean and drop a check ($10 for each pound of coffee) made out the "Save Our Elms" in the Elms box in the office. No cash, please! The order form has information about the coffees on it.
Orders placed by Thursday at 11:00 am should be available for pick up in the office by Friday afternoon.
Thanks for your support and especially to Portland Roasting and Richmond parents, Paul Gilles and Mikiko Mori-Gilles, for making this possible! The trees thank you, too!
